1922 was a historic year all around for the company. That same year, they came out with the 74 cubic inch V-twin engine. Introduced on the popular JD and FD bikes, it became an instant success. 1925 was another important year in the history of the company, as it was the first time that every single one of their bikes featured the distinctive teardrop shape. This was the final step in creating the classic Harley Davidson look that set Harleys apart from other bikes even today, over 80 years later. 1925 also marked the debut of legendary Harley racer Joe Petrali.
